Type of track:
Part tarmac then rough track. Suitable for walking or cycling but one or two 'get off and shove' spots.
Length round trip:
7.6 miles if starting from Callander. 3.2 miles if starting at Braeleny farm. Some alternative starts between.
Begin at:
Bracklinn Road (Opposite pink house east end Main Street) or parking space before Braeleny Farm 3.2miles.
Description:
From Callander, go to the east end of the Main shopping street and opposite the entrance to the Roman Camp Hotel find Bracklinn Road - you may be able to park here - if not there's another car park about 1/4 mile up the hill.
Follow Bracklinn Road up the hill and over the bridge to the top of the hill at the entrance to Callander Golf Club. Turn left then right and continue through the woods up the hill, past the car park for the Brackinn Falls - which you can visit if time allows - then continue for about 2 miles to a small parking area on the left at the Drumardoch farm gate. Park here.
Walk on past Braeleny farm - at the farm there's a walkers' gate on the right to a path which by-passes the stock yard - and continue on the farm track which meanders over the moor for about 1.5 miles to the ford at Arivurichardich. There was a bridge here - washed away in a flood.
If the water level is low you can ford the burn here (there's a handy pipe to steady you) and you can carry on for another 1/2 mile to the old cottages and sheep pens.
Unless planning a much longer walk to Comrie or to climb Stuc a Chroin stop here to admire one of the best hill vistas in the Trossachs before returning by the same route.
